Good Friday Rose Shroud

This is the design for the Good Friday shroud Phyllis will be sewing to cover the center of the earthen cross.  The image is misleading because the entire piece will be different blacks on black.  (Rick, you could wear this!)  I made some areas gray so you could perceive detail.  The red roses will be attached to a rigid piece of black foam in the center area marked on the drawing by a black cross.  This piece will be detachable so the shroud can be used again for other purposes.

The linework and smaller oranmental crosses are satin stitch.  The central square and corner squares are appliqued black brocade with satin stitching on top.

Ash Wednesday Banners - Dust & Ashes

The Ash Wednesday Banners were installed in the Sanctuary last night.

They are just simple, thin black hanging fabric pieces with overlays that say "Dust & Ashes".

Black pepper was used to create the subtle dusty-ashy words on the overlays.
