Idea for transition to Reaching Wide

Here is a wonderful example of paper cutting used on a large scale by an artist in the National Cathedral. Looking at Kari's design for the Lenten words growing deep as roots,  reaching wide needs to go up as in the sprouting plant.  First we thought of a beanstalk sort of plant that would rise from the earth (with the aid of our pulley crank tenchology)  This could get cheesy especialy if it has springing branches as it moves upward.  Worse yet, would be a jump-up rapture jack-in -the box effect with a plant spewing compost all over the chancel.  Inspired by the verticality of the lenten "root"letters and combining it with a conceptual plant cut ou or stenciled isimilar in feel to the images above, I could see a coated fabric banner hidden beneath the soil until the proper time when it would break forth and rise.  Becasue it is fabric or fabirc-like it would hang in a simple flat plane when risen.  We could actually cut out the growing vining plant or screen print the images on finer fabric which would unfurl without any help or contrivance.  It would continue to gently undulate in its hanging position under the sun.  Visually this woul be a nice transition from Lent to Easter.
